Social Enterprise Plus 'Get Going Award'

Criteria

Get Going Award – up to £1000

In line with the objectives of the Social Enterprise Strategy The Housing Executive - Housing Community Network (nihe.gov.uk), the Social Enterprise Plus Strategy aims to assist individuals living or working in Housing Executive communities to improve and develop economic activity in the area. These awards are focused generally on assistance with Business start-up, education or training awards.

Eligibility for the Get Going Award

As an individual applicant you must be a resident in a defined Housing Executive estate or involved in a social economy initiative in a Housing Executive estate or neighbourhood.

Outcomes

You must be able to prove that an award will help achieve outcomes in one or more of four priority areas:

  • Reduction of negative effects of the cost of living crisis
  • Energy and net carbon / environmental impact
  • Preparing social enterprises for social clauses within Government contracts including Housing Executive maintenance contracts
  • COVID-19 recovery

This could be by:

  1. increasing your personal capacity to contribute to the local social economy
  2. developing new services that contribute to the local (neighbourhood) economy
  3. increasing your technical skills/knowledge to develop/deliver their own or their communities social economy activities

Examples of what may be considered for support

  1. Contribution to course fees/skills training where it is not available elsewhere
  2. Business start-up equipment - Subject to further conditions i.e. match funding or engagement with local enterprise agencies
  3. Market research with economic / business relevance
  4. Business start-up activities e.g. proof of concept

Priority will be given to applicants that clearly demonstrate that there will be both personal and social economy benefits.

Examples of what will not be considered

  1. Travel to interview/work fares
  2. Clothing for interviews
  3. Driving license costs

Applications will be assessed against relevance to the Social Enterprise Plus Strategy 2020-2024, meeting the listed priority areas and suitability for public sector finance support. Funding is limited so not all applications that meet the criteria will be successful.

Applicants must provide relevant quotes for equipment and/or services with this application. If these are not included the application will be ineligible.

This criteria is not exhaustive and the Housing Executive has the right to enhance/change the criteria as listed above.

Assessment of applications

Applications will be assessed on the basis that there is a fit with the Social Enterprise Plus Strategy 2020-2024, that the objectives referred to above are met and that the proposed activities are suitable for public sector finance support.

Funds are limited and all applications which meet the criteria will not necessarily be funded. 

Applications will be assessed by a panel of managers after the window for submissions is closed. Funds are limited and all applications which meet the criteria will not necessarily be funded. 

All applications must be received by no later than: Wednesday 19 April 2023 at 4.00pm.  

Applications submitted after this date will be deemed as invalid.

Information in relation to this application, including contact details provided as part of the application, may also be shared with others for statistical analysis, and the Government Funding Database for fraud prevention/detection. This information is only shared where this is necessary to comply with our legal obligations or as permitted by General Data Protection Regulation or Data Protection Act 2018.
